Description: This is a very rare and unusual French Bisque, " Poupee-Statuette" by Radiquet & Cordonnier. I have never come across one of these dolls before, but I do know one dealer that has come across 2 of them before and each one of them sold for $15,000. each and they did not have the original stand, which this one does!! This one has a restored shoulderplate and it is a wonderful restoration. You cannot tell it by looking at it. Her head has a sliver of bisque out of the neck socket, the arms and legs are free of damage. She stands 15 1/2" tall, 17 1/2" tall including the stand. She is not able to be removed from the stand! She has a beautiful face as you can see in the pictures! She has blue eyes, painted lashes on top and bottom, no eyechips, pierced ears, blonde mohair skin wig that is possibly original that is full and still gorgeous. Her torso is papier mache, covered with "Gesland-type" cotton fabric. It is in great condition. It starts under the chestplate and goes down to above the knees. She has gorgeous bisque legs and feet that are sculpted. Her upper arms are cotton covered wired arms and lower bisque arms with no damage to any of the fingers. I don't know what the original doll would have worn when created, but the costume she has on, really shows off all her beauty, that this rare doll has to offer! It would be sad to cover her in a french fashion gown, to cover up her legs and arms!
The Radiquet & Cordonnier, depose for their design of a "poupee-statuette" was filed in 1880.
Price: $11,500
